Baker Dan's Cookies

Baker Dan may be a company you haven’t heard of, but you might want to check him out. He makes some pretty delicious cookies! According to the website, “Baker Dan seeks to produce a variety of specialty and classic cookies that are pleasurable to eat and made for a healthy treat.”
I was lucky enough to get to sample some of his cookies, and this is what I thought! 🙂
Walnut Raisin Biscotti
unexpected for a biscotti, because it was chewy and not crisp. I liked the chunks of walnuts in it, and it has a nice raisin flavor. Surprisingly, i thought i tasted a bit of raspberry flavor as well. Biting into it, it reminded me of eating a poptart. It tasted like the filling in one of the strawberry or raspberry poptart, but not as sugary. It was very good, sweet but not too sweet. 4 stars !
Gluten Free Chocolate Chip- yummmmmy is all i have to say! I like how they are “crisp” and “light” tasting. They have sweet chunks of chocolate and a brown sugar taste. I also like you get 2 BIG cookies for only 110 calories. It nixed my chocolate craving for sure- very good!  I also liked how it had a wee bit of a salty taste to it. What a good cookie. 4 1/2 stars
Pistachio Biscotti– yum again! Baker Dan is definitely good at making biscottis! This one was crisper, and had a nice texture. It had just the right amount of sweetness, and i really enjoyed the lemony taste to it. They worked well with a cup of tea, and my mom tried one and said she would buy these if she saw them in store. 4 stars
Regular Chocolate Chip– these were better than the sugar free, but not as good as the gluten free. They were sweet and more chocolately, and had a richer flavor. Still a very enjoyable cookie, i would buy them again. 4 stars
Overall, these were pretty good. They all had a decent portion size too, especially the Gluten Free Chocolate Chip (2 for 110 calories) and the Pistachio Biscotti (3 for 110 calories). On the positive side, they are all pretty low in fat. On the one negative side, they are also pretty low in fiber 🙁 But, I would buy these if I saw them in a nearby store by me! Good choice over Oreo’s or Chips Ahoy or whatever other sugary and preservative-laden cookies that are on the market these days and deserve to be in the trash. *Oops!* Did i say that? 😉
