TRANSFORMATION FACTORY SEA MOSS GEL

To be honest, I didn’t even know Sea Moss was edible prior to being offered to do a review!

Per the company, the human body is made up of 102 essential minerals and sea moss has 92 of them- Pretty cool! The Sea moss is sourced from Jamaica.

Unfortunately, the pineapple one exploded (in my fridge, much to my dismay, but was totally a good excuse to clean my entire fridge!). The strawberry banana one was leaking out the top a bit, but the Elderberry one came just fine.

You can use sea moss gel as a thickening agent for soups, as a hair or face mask, added to smoothies, or just as is. To be the most fair, I tried it as is.

I also had my husband try it, as he is just as picky as I am 🙂

It has a very thick, gel like consistency. I like that is has no added refined sugars, however dislike that one of the ingredients is “organic ingredient”… Not sure what that’s about.

It is vegan, gluten free, non GMO and soy free.

I do wish it listed (somewhere) which trace minerals the sea moss was providing and what percentage per 2 tbsp, however, per the label, it has Beta Carotene, B vitamins, pectin, taurine and vitamin C. It says “packed with protein” however there are 0 grams of protein per 2 tbsps, not, again, not sure what that’s about…

How’s the taste?

Strawberry Banana

So oddly enough, when this hits your tongue, it “fizzles”! Weird! (it also was kind of…sizzling out the side of the container). It had a mild strawberry banana flavor, but to me, also tasted a bit sour or had a fermented like flavor. Good enough to put in a smoothie but not something I would eat daily from the spoon. My husband however didn’t mind it.

Elderberry – no sizzle here! This one reminded us of a medicinal type elderberry flavor. Just mildly sweet.

The shelf life is only about 30 days, but per the website you can freeze it for up to 1 year. The smell of it is off putting but the taste is better than the smell. My husband couldn’t even detect an odor (but I have a super sniffer, a blessing and a curse).

Overall, I’m going to give this about 3 stars. My rationale is, 30 day shelf life, unclear labeling and packaging, and the taste/odor can be somewhat offputting, also…they owe me some Mrs. Meyers spray for cleaning my fridge due to an exploded bottle  😉

DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED THIS TO TRY FOR FREE FROM THE COMPANY.  This is an unbiased review.
