Penny’s Low Fat Desserts‘ opening statement about the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie is “Chocolate peanut butter—what a combo“, and I couldn’t agree more. Really, what’s better than that classic peanut butter and chocolate combination? I know it’s certainly one of my favorites!
So how about when that combination is transformed into… a cookie! And, a low fat, sweet and all natural cookie, too!

Penny’s Low Fat Desserts sent me the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie to try, and I sure am glad they did! It was a rather large cookie, dark in color, with visible pieces of oats. I was super excited to try it- I just finished my lunch, and wanted something sweet to finish the meal. Where else to turn but this yummy treat ?

I took a bite, and was actually surprised. It tasted like a brownie! A soft, fudgy, and moist brownie! The oats were chewy, and added texture, as they had that bite to it that oats have before I use them to make home-made oatmeal. There were little chocolate chips that were slightly crunchy and sweet, and made this a real treat. Of course, the best part was the peanut butter chips. Oh, sooooo good! I wish there were more peanut butter chips, as they really added a great touch.

What I also liked about this cookie, is that it was sweet, but not too sweet. It also has 7 grams of fiber per 1.8 ounce cookie! Overall, 4 stars. =)

One 1.8 ounce cookie is 150 calories, 3 grams of fat, 38 grams of carbohydrates, 7 grams of fiber, 18 grams of sugar, and 3 grams of protein.

Will I ever get bored of doing cookie reviews?

…NOPE! : )

I recently reviewed Penny’s Low Fat Desserts White Chocolate Cranberry cookie, and thought it was great. Penny’s Low Fat Desserts also sent me the Chocolate Chip variety to try. Does the Chocolate Chip cookie meet the same delicious expectations?

Of course!

Chocolate Chip- the first thing that came to my mind when I tried this cookie was, This cookie is SWEET! Normally I like a balance between sweet and rich flavors when it comes to chocolate chip cookies- but this I must say, was still very enjoyable! It was soft and moist, with a delicious taste of vanilla. I also liked how it had an almost buttery taste- amazing considering there is only THREE grams of fat per 1.8 ounce cookie! The chocolate chips were quite tasty as well- reminded me of eating a sweet chocolate candy bar. The only reason this cookie doesn’t get 5 stars is because the first ingredient is sugar. Otherwise, it’s a must-try treat!! 4 1/2 stars

1 cookie is 150 calories, 3 grams of fat, 38 grams of carbohydrates, 18 grams of sugar, 7 grams of fiber, and 2 grams of protein.

sugar, whole wheat flour, water, semisweet chocolate chips (sugar, chocolate liquor, cocoa butter, dextrose, soy lecithin), oats, dried plum puree, cellulose, erythritol, chicory root, corn syrup, rice syrup solids, natural flavors, palm oil, baking soda, salt, xanthan gum, sodium alginate, guar gum.

Penny’s Low Fat Desserts is a favorite here on HealthNuttxo. I haven’t met a product I haven’t liked- ranging from muffin tops, muffins and even no sugar added cookies! Another favorite of mine to add is now the White Chocolate Cranberry Cookie, which was sent to me to try from Penny.

At first glance, I was quite pleased. A decently sized cookie- and quite thick too. I tasted this cookie and was equally as happy. It had a fruity taste, which I would imagine is from the “dried plum puree” listed in the ingredients, but also reminded me of an oatmeal raisin cookie. However, instead of raisins, were sweet and not-to- tart cranberries. I was actually quite happy the cranberries were not tart, as I usually am not a fan of cranberries for that reason. Not the case here! They were sweet and just plain good!

Onto the best part of the cookie… the white chocolate chips. WOW! Soooo goood! Creamy and sweet, they added an unexpected and yummy twist to the cookie. They even had a slight crunch to them which was quite nice.

Overall, this cookie gets 4 1/2 stars. It is very sweet, with sugar being the first ingredient, but I really think it’s good, especially if a sweet tooth needs some satisfaction! I do like that this cookie has 7 grams of fiber per cookie- it’s a snack that has some satiety and can keep me full until dinner!

1 cookie is 150 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, 39 carbohydrates, 7 grams of fiber, 21 grams of sugar, and 2 grams of protein.

sugar, whole wheat flour, water, white chocolate chips (sugar, cocoa butter, whole milk powder, nonfat milk powder, soy lecithin, vanilla, natural flavor), dried cranberries, oats, dried plum puree, cellulose, erythritol, chicory root, corn syrup, rice syrup solids, natural flavors, palm oil, baking soda, salt, soy lecithin, xanthan gum, sodium alginate, guar gum.

Ah, two of my favorite things, finally combined. Penny’s Low Fat Desserts, and Banana muffins. I’ve had some of Penny’s lovely desserts before- like her delicious muffin tops, and her chocolate truffle and cinnamon toffee cookies. So how on EARTH could I turn Penny down when she offered me to try her new Banana Bran muffin? (Obviously I couldn’t- then you wouldn’t be reading a review! )

Penny sent me a few of her new, all natural, no sugar added Banana Bran Muffins. Each muffin is only 100 calories and is sweetened naturally with rebiana, or stevia. They are a pretty decent size, 3 ounces, not as big as those super-muffins you get at the deli, but a good sized muffin. I popped it in the microwave for 10 seconds or so since I put them in my fridge( and I reccommend you heat it up for a few seconds when you try it!!), and sat down to review. The smell was awesome-I just knew I was going to like these. I. LOVE. BANANA!

I took a bite, and was actually quite pleased. It’s “fudgy” in texture-soft, and fluffy. It’s actually sweeter than I imagined it to be, but still good. The banana flavor was good too- no fake banana flavor, but a real ” there are actual bananas, not just banana extracts in this muffin” flavor. It also had a buttery flavor as well. In other words, this muffin was GOOD! I liked that you could see bits of banana actually thoughout the muffin. Yum!

One tip I have- spread peanut butter on this muffin! (taking into consideration you are not allergic to peanut butter. Please, do not do that then!!) Oh my, it was SO amazing with a smear of all natural peanut butter. I’m just mad that I didn’t think of spreading peanut butter on it until I was halfway done with the muffin (woops! ).

Overall, this muffin gets 4 1/2 stars. Good job, yet again, Penny! This muffin also has only three grams of sugar and six grams of fiber. Can’t be beat in my books

1 muffin is 90 calories, 1.5 grams of fat, 28 carbohydrates, 5 grams of fiber, 10 sugar alcohols, 2 sugars and 4 grams of protein.

water, wheat flour (wheat flour, malted barley flour, niacin, iron, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), erythritol, pasteurized egg whites, wheat bran, bananas, milk, chicory root, cellulose, natural flavors, leavening (sodium acid pyrophosphate, cornstarch, sodium bicarbonate), rice syrup solids, salt, palm oil, soy lecithin, xanthan gum, sodium alginate, guar gum, rebiana, soybean lecithin.

Well, we all know I looooooove Penny’s Low Fat Desserts. She makes some kickin’ products that taste great, are all natural, and have a reasonable portion size for relatively low amount of calories and fat. I reviewed her muffin tops (which ROCKED) here, so if you are unfamiliar with her products, check it out.

Recently I received the No Sugar Added Toffee Cinnamon Cookie in the mail. It’s Penny’s new product, targeted especially for Diabetics (coincidence- I AM a type 1 Diabetic! ). I also tried the other variety Penny offers, the Chocolate Truffle. These cookies are sweetened with erythritol and rebiana rather than sugar, are high in fiber and are only 100 calories each.
No Sugar? you ask. Aren’t these going to be bland and have that weird aftertaste?
HA!
These cookies will ROCK YOUR SOCKS OFF. Read on, bloggies !

Chocolate Truffle- This cookie fooled my taste buds into thinking it was eating atruffle. It is sooo moist and crumbly, almost a buttery texture. It was sweet, with a deep chocolately taste. The outside rim is slightly lighter in color than the rest of the cookie, and is the sweetest and softest part of the cookie. It’s so hard to believe there isn’t any sugar in this- it’s AMAZING. It was satisfying and filling too, with the 7 grams of fiber.

Toffe Cinnamon Cookie- ahhhhh. Also heavenly. It has a delicate flavor, crumbly, soft and melts in your mouth. It was also sweeter on the edges of the cookie than in the middle. It reminded me of the top of those cinnamon crumb cakes. It paired very well with some vanilla yogurt too.

I was literally upset when these cookies were over, they are so good. I hope she comes out with another flavor soon. Something peanut buttery? Caramel? Chocolate Chip? I love the texture of the cookies the most. It melts in your mouth.Penny.
Penny’s Low Fat Desserts makes all natural, nutritious desserts, such as muffins, cookies and what I got to try, the muffin tops! The muffin tops come in Orange-Cranberry, Almond Poppy seed, Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Carrot Raisin and Apple Cinnamon flavor. All are about 100-120 calories, generously sized (2 oz) and have 10% calcium needs per serving.
So how did these muffin tops taste? Well…

Carrot Raisin Top- my first bite, my brain said “Oh. My. God. THIS IS DELICIOUS!” The raisins were plump and perfect. The muffin was chewy and soft. You could actually see the pieces of carrots! I tasted a nice hint of nutmeg, and overall it had a sweet carrot flavor, like carrot cake. It was excellent. 5 stars

Almond Poppy Seed Top- Also DELICIOUS! It had a nice, light, lemony flavor and i really liked the teensy poppy seeds that added a bit of a crunch. It was soft, and moist and tasted like angel food cake to me. Went perfect with my Brown Cow Strawberry greek yogurt. I actually let a little piece sit in the yogurt for a few minutes and it got really soft and yummy! 5 stars for this one too!!

Apple Cinnamon Top- this one was also amazing! It tasted like Quaker Apple Cinnamon oatmeal to me! It was very moist, and mildly sweet. The cinnamon added a nice touch. I loved the apple chunks/pieces in it. 4 stars!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Top- This one was the only one i wasn’t crazy about. And it’s chocolate too! Don’t get me wrong, it was good, but not as chocolatey as i expected. I think i would have liked it better if it wasn’t double chocolate, but perhaps just a chocolate chip muffin. But, it was soft, and mildly sweet. I did like the gooey chocolate chips, especially after warming in the microwave It had a mellow chocolate flavor, and it paired well with a glass of milk. I think it might taste good with a smearing of peanut butter on it. 3 stars

Overall, these are awesome ! I’m giving them 4 stars as a whole. The almond poppy seed and carrot raisin are 2 that I will be ordering a LOT! I paired these with a yogurt for breakfast and was satisfied because it was not only delicious, but filling. I would love Penny to make a banana flavored top or something with peanut butter. Yum! I will hopefully be reviewing more of Penny’s treats in the near future. What are your favorites by Penny’s?
