Calling all chocolate icecream fans- you are in for a special treat! :)

First off, please dont be discouraged by the words “Goat’s Milk”-it makes quite a fantastic icecream! As I was absolutely amazed by the Vanilla Snowflake, I decided to try the Deep Chocolate as well with a coupon provided by LaLoos

I opened up the small container and saw a dark brown, rich ice cream. I scooped some out, and even though it had sat in my freezer for a little while, it was soft as butter. In fact, it was so easy to scoop out with a spoon- I was impressed! I tasted a little bit- wow, this was good! It reminded me of what a dark chocolate icecream would taste like. Rich, sweet, just a teensy hint of that dark chocolate bitterness flavor. It was soft and smooth in texture, almost fluffy like soft serve. It also sort of reminded me of the texture of an ice cream, but the chocolate flavor of a chocolate ice. Delicious!

Overall, I think if you like dark chocolate you would certainly like this icecream! I’m giving it 4 stars, because it’s really quite good. In fact, I ate mine right out of the container- for taste testing purposes, of course ; ) It is a bit high in sugar, but I do like that it has 5 grams of protein per serving. Nice!!

1/2 cup is 160 calories, 6 grams of fat, 21 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of fiber, 17 grams of sugar and 5 grams of protein.

What’s your favorite flavor icecream? I’ll always be a fan of strawberry and cookie dough!

Chocolite Chocolate Chip Brownie Bites

Author: Healthnuttxo

Who likes brownies? Or, maybe the question should be, Who doesn’t like brownies?

:)

Unfortunately, the majority of those sweet, lovely brownies usually have a lot of sugar and are high in fat. So, as an alternative, what about Chocolite Chocolate Chip Brownie Bites? I was sent a package of these to try from Chocolite/HealthSmartFoods, that had 3 bites in one package. The single serve package had FIVE grams of fiber, and four grams of sugar. Hmm.. Would this live up to a fresh outta-the-oven brownie?

While it wasn’t exactly like a fudgy, moist brownie, they were pretty good. Each bite was about the size in circumfrence of about a half-dollar, maybe a bit bigger. There was a sweet chocolate coating on the outside, with a slightly dry kind of crunchy inside. It was soft, chocolately, and had a slight vanilla taste. It kind of reminded me of the flavor of chocolate ice cream! I also think the name fits perfectly- Chocolate Chip Brownie- it also certainly reminded me of a cross between a chocolate chip cookie and a brownie.

Overall, 4 stars. I like that it was low in sugar, had 5 grams of fiber per 3 brownie bites, and was pretty tasty. On the downside, there are 3 grams of saturated fat for 3 brownie bites, and 5 grams of total fat. I do also wish that the inside was a bit less dry, but it was still good nonetheless.

Question- Which do you prefer, chocolate chip cookies or brownies? I would say I’m more of a chocolate chip cookie girl !

3 Chocolate Chip Brownie Bites is 90 calories, 5 grams of fat, 16 grams of carbohydrates, 5 grams of fiber, 4 grams of sugar and 2 grams of protein.

SAHALE SNACKS GIVEAWAY ends tomorow!!!

Penny’s Low Fat Desserts‘ opening statement about the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie is “Chocolate peanut butter—what a combo“, and I couldn’t agree more. Really, what’s better than that classic peanut butter and chocolate combination? I know it’s certainly one of my favorites! So how about when that combination is transformed into… a cookie! And, a low fat, sweet and all natural cookie, too!

Penny’s Low Fat Desserts sent me the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie to try, and I sure am glad they did! It was a rather large cookie, dark in color, with visible pieces of oats. I was super excited to try it- I just finished my lunch, and wanted  something sweet to finish the meal. Where else to turn but this yummy treat ?

I took a bite, and was actually surprised. It tasted like a brownie! A soft, fudgy, and moist brownie! The oats were chewy, and added texture, as they had that bite to it that oats have before I use them to make home-made oatmeal. There were little chocolate chips that were slightly crunchy and sweet, and made this a real treat. Of course, the best part was the peanut butter chips. Oh, sooooo good! I wish there were more peanut butter chips, as they really added a great touch.

What I also liked about this cookie, is that it was sweet, but not too sweet. It also has 7 grams of fiber per 1.8 ounce cookie! Overall, 4 stars. =)

One 1.8 ounce cookie is 150 calories, 3 grams of fat, 38 grams of carbohydrates, 7 grams of fiber, 18 grams of sugar, and 3 grams of protein.

So, alongside the DELICIOUS Peanut Butter Muscle Brownie I was sent from  Lenny & Larry’s, they also gave me the Cookies & Cream Muscle Brownie.

Same awesomeness in my opinion, with it’s all natural ingredients, and 20 grams of protein for an 80 gram brownie. Protein + brownies= YES! : )

WHAT am I waiting for? Let’s give this a try NOW!!

I opened up the package, and saw a dark brown colored brownie, with almost a white icing on top. It was kind of small, but thick and dense. It smelled very sweet, and had a vanilla aroma as well.

So, how did it taste? I only have one word to describe it.

Protein-licious.

As in, HOW is there protein in this deliciousness!?!? The brownie itself was soft and chewy, very slightly gritty, fudgy and sweet. The icing on top really wasn’t as sweet as I thought it would be, but was pretty good. There were also little bits in the cookie, which I thought were walnuts, but they were actually soft and sweet. So, I’m assuming they are not walnuts. I believe they were either ”cookie bits” or “marshmallow flavored pieces” according to the ingredients.

Overall, Cookies & Cream Muscle Brownies ROCK! As if I needed another excuse to eat a brownie, this one has lots of filling protein, and great flavor, as well as natural ingredients. One thing I didn’t really like was the fact that it was a bit high in sugar (11 grams for half an 80 gram brownie), and there was corn syrup listed in the ingredients (s0mething I try to stay away from). Also, there were TWO servings in the 80 gram brownie, which it took almost all of my willpower to only eat half at a time (it’s so good!).  Although, now that I think about it, a good-sized dessert brownie can be around 300 calories, give or take, with most of the calories I’m assuming coming from fat or sugar/carbohydrates. At least if someone I eat the whole brownie, it’s 340 calories, and 20 grams of PROTEIN!! : )

So… 4 1/2 stars : )

1.41 Oz (40 grams)  is 170 calories, 5 grams of fat, 20 grams of carbohydrates, 11 grams of sugar, 1 gram of fiber and 10 grams of protein.

*** I also did a guest post on Yum Yucky. You can see it HERE! :) ****

Oh yea. Peanut. Butter. Muscle. Brownie.

The generous folks over at Lenny & Larry’s sent me one of these treats to try, and of COURSE I was excited. Not only was it  a brownie, it was a peanut butter brownie, AND it has TWENTY GRAMS of protein per 80 gram brownie!!

So, feeling hungry the other day and in the mood for something sweet and savory, I took out this brownie. It was a thick and rich brownie, with a decent layer of a peanut butter drizzle on top. Some actually stuck to my wrapper a little bit, but no worries! I took a bite, and… These are GOOD!

Very sweet, fudgy, dense, and moist. Just delicious! The brownie part was actually a bit too sweet, but still very good. The best part was the peanut butter topping- creamy, sweet and delicious.

This gets 4 stars from me. It was very good, but there are two servings in a 2.82 ounce package, with 170 calories and 6 grams of fat per serving. This brownie is too delicious not to eat the whole thing at once! I also wish that there was more fiber,  and less sugar. There is only 1 gram of fiber, and 12 grams of sugar per serving. On the bright side, I did like how it was filling, and certainly scrumptious. I can see myself using this as an on-the-go snack or mini meal for when I’m hungry but don’t have time to sit down and eat.

1.41 ounces (40 grams) is 170 calories, 6 grams of fat, 19 grams of carbohydrates, 1 gram of fiber, 12 grams of sugar and 10 grams of protein.

I’ve tried a cookie by Nana’s Cookie Company before, and thought it was great! Well, they also sent me the Double Chocolate Cookie to try, and I was equally as excited.

According to the package, this cookie has no “eggs, no dairy, no refined sugar” and is “fruit juice sweetened”! That sounds like my kinda cookie! =)

This cookie, is BIG. In fact, One cookie has 2 servings, one serving being 50 grams or half of a cookie. It is a dark brown in color, with pieces of walnuts. I’ll be honest- this cookie was REALLY good. I didn’t miss the eggs or the dairy a bit! =) It was soft, rich, and buttery tasting. I loved how it had a rich chocolate flavor, and was fudgy too. The perfect amount of smeetness! The addition of walnuts also added a really nice touch, and I enjoyed them.

Overall,  4 1/2 stars. The only problem in my eyes, is half of a cookie is 210 calories and 10 grams of fat, with only 1 gram of fiber. Something as tasty as this- it’s easy for me to eat half if not the whole thing! Good thing it’s a rather large cookie =) !

Have you ever tried Nana’s Cookie Company products? If so which ones and which ones are your favorite? *If you’d like to answer, please leave a comment below!*

Chocolite Caramel Cashew Protein Bar

Author: Healthnuttxo

Health Smart Foods sent me some of the Chocolite products to try a little while ago, including the Caramel Cashew Protein Bar. I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I was when I first bit into this bar.

First off, the nutritional stats really rock. One bar has 10 grams of fiber, 115 calories, and only 1 gram of sugar.

But the taste is what won me over. The bar itself is dense and chewy, with a thick white coating on the outside, and visible bumps of cashews. The coating tastes like a mix of a buttery sweet white chocolate and a vanilla icing. Smooth and rich and delicious. It did not have an overpowering caramel flavor, which I liked, but was just enough to make it chewy and add a little sweetness. The cashew nuts are crunchy and tasty as well.

I literally was upset when this bar was over. So delicious, and I loved the thick white coating on the outside. It was VERY satisfying, for both my hunger pangs and my taste buds. Amazing!  5 stars !  :D

1 bar is 115 calories, 6 grams of fat, 18 grams of carbohydrates, 10 grams of fiber, 1 gram of sugar and 9 grams of protein.

Will I ever get bored of doing cookie reviews?

…NOPE! : )

I recently reviewed Penny’s Low Fat Desserts White Chocolate Cranberry cookie, and thought it was great. Penny’s Low Fat Desserts also sent me the Chocolate Chip variety to try. Does the Chocolate Chip cookie meet the same delicious expectations?

Of course!

Chocolate Chip- the first thing that came to my mind when I tried this cookie was, This cookie is SWEET! Normally I like a balance between sweet and rich flavors when it comes to chocolate chip cookies- but this I must say, was still very enjoyable! It was soft and moist, with a delicious taste of vanilla. I also liked how it had an almost buttery taste- amazing considering there is only THREE grams of fat per 1.8 ounce cookie! The chocolate chips were quite tasty as well- reminded me of eating a sweet chocolate candy bar. The only reason this cookie doesn’t get 5 stars is because the first ingredient is sugar. Otherwise, it’s a must-try treat!! 4 1/2 stars

1 cookie is 150 calories, 3 grams of fat, 38 grams of carbohydrates, 18 grams of sugar, 7 grams of fiber, and 2 grams of protein.

sugar, whole wheat flour, water, semisweet chocolate chips (sugar, chocolate liquor, cocoa butter, dextrose, soy lecithin), oats, dried plum puree, cellulose, erythritol, chicory root, corn syrup, rice syrup solids, natural flavors, palm oil, baking soda, salt, xanthan gum, sodium alginate, guar gum.

Okay, so the term “Goat’s Milk Ice Cream” may not sound appealing. But please, hear me out :)

I was a little skeptical at first myself, but I decided, why not? Laloo’s sent me some coupons to try some free goat’s milk icecream, so I picked up a container of the Vanilla Snowflake. This icecream is all natural, and according to the container is also lactose friendly!

I opened up the container, and it was a pale yellow in color, sort of reminded me of the color of custard. When I took a scoop with my spoon I just knew this was going to be good. As I dug my spoon in, the ice cream was easily removable- it was super soft and velvetty in texture. I took a bite, and was amazed at this flavor. Where have you been all my life!  I thought. This stuff was SERIOUSLY good!

It was super creamy and rich, and had that melt-in-my-mouth consistency. Just absolutely perfect in my opinion. I’m not even normally a fan of vanilla- I usually opt for strawberry ice cream/frozen yogurt, or chocolate, or cookie dough! I normally find vanilla rather bland, but that is SO not the case here! It was perfectly sweet and had a lovely vanilla flavor. I think Laloo’s named this ice cream perfectly with “Vanilla Snowflake”.

This product clearly gets 5 stars- it does contain sugar, 14 grams per 1/2 cup, but it truly is a treat. I really like that it has minimal ingredients, provides such awesome flavor, and has 5 grams of protein per 1/2 cup serving. I would be perfectly happy eating all 4 servings in one sitting if it wasn’t for the 14 grams of sugar and 3 grams of saturated fat per serving. So, I guess I’ll have to save it for a treat (or just help myself to a spoonful every day and make it last longer! : )  )

1 serving, 1/2 cup, is 140 calories, 6 grams of fat, 18 carbohydrates, 0 grams of fiber, 14 grams of sugar, and 5 grams of protein.

Goat Milk, Sugar, Egg Yolks, Pure Vanilla, Locust Bean Gum, Guar Gum, Carrageenan

Hey- I have an idea. Let’s post another review about CHOCOLATE! I can’t get enough! Maybe that’s why I can’t sleep lately… is it the caffeine? (Just Kidding!)

Anyway- Nugo is a brand that makes a bunch of products that are suitable for many different lifestyles. According to the pamphlet I was sent along with some yummy bars from the company, they have..
“Nugo Family – Low Glycemic
NuGO Organic- USDA Certified Organic
NuGo Dark- Real Delicious Dark Chocolate
Gluten Free- Soy, Wheat and Dairy Free
KeriBar- Fruit and Fiber
Smarte Carb- Sugar Free”

Wow- so many options! Of the products I was sent, I recieved the Nugo Nutrition Bar in Peanut Butter Chocolate and Nugo Dark Mocha Chocolate Bar. What I like about both of these bars is that they incorporate chocolate in a healthier way- these bars are both good sources of protein, all natural, and relatively low in fat and calories. I’m ready to try ‘em!

Nugo Nutrition Bar Peanut Butter Chocolate- this one had a chewy texture, kind of like a cross between a Rice Krispie Treat and a Luna Bar. It was actually pretty sweet, too. However, there was not much of a peanut butter flavor (aw, man!), and come to think of it, the chocolate flavor isn’t too strong either. However, the “lightness” or both flavors compliments each other- one flavor doesn’t really outshine the other. There is also a smooth and sweet layer of milk chocolate on the bottom. The taste overall kind of reminded me of peanut butter M&M’s- a salty sweet mix of peanut butter and chocolate. 3 1/2 stars

NuGo Dark Mocha Chocolate Bar- From the first bite- you can DEFINITELY taste the mocha flavor in this bar! I agree with the website’s description, which states, “Coffee Lovers, meet your new favorite gourmet snack”. If you like coffee, and you like chocolate, you WILL like this bar! You can even smell the mocha aroma after opening the package. Seeing as I’m not too much of a coffee drinker, I was actually surprised I liked this bar as much as I did. It’s COVERED in smooth dark chocolate, that wasn’t too bitter, which I liked. It’s chewy, but still has some texture and a bite to it. Again, it reminded me of a chocolate covered Rice Krispie Treat. It was sweet, and actually pretty good. This one gets 4 stars, and although it has 10 grams of protein, I think I’ll treat it as more of a “healthy candy bar” than a protein bar. (It’s also vegan and dairy free!)

Overall, I approve. These bars are all natural and offer a little something for everyone. What I don’t like is that some of the bars have corn syrup (boo!), and are a bit high in sugar. But, I’d still like to try the NuGo Chocolate Chocolate Chip flavor- that one sounds right up my alley- and some of the KeriBars (the fruit and fiber bars) if I ever see them in stores by me.

*Have you ever tried any NuGo bars? If so, which ones?
