Amazing Grass offered to send me a some of their Orange Dreamsicle Drink Powder to try for free. I accepted, and got this in the mail a day or so ago.

This powder has a whole bunch of stuff in it! According to the label, there are things like the “Amazing Grass Green Food Blend”, “Antioxidant Blend”, “EFA Fiber Blend”, “Digestive Enzyme & Active Culture Pre & Probiotic Blend” and more. I liked it especially because of the “Green Food Blend” which had things like “Organic Wheat Grass” and “Organic Spirulina” in it, which are things I don’t consume on a normal basis.

After my workout this morning, I wanted to have some with my meal. It suggests to “mix 1 scoop with 6 oz. of water, juice or your favorite milk”. I opted for water at first, so I could see what it really tasted like.

Here’s what it looked like when I opened up the tub.

Silly me. For some reason I expected an orange color, since it was called “Orange Dreamsicle”. Hah.

With water, it mixed easily. It was kind of “piecy” in consistency. It had a very mild sweetness, and actually DID remind me of an orange creamsicle, but was no where as sweet. I wanted to try it some other way. Conveniently, I had been eating a Pineapple Chobani, and decided to mix some in.

Not too pretty, but pretty tasty.

It was certainly a unique flavor with the Chobani, but I kind of liked it!  I think next time I try this, I’ll use it in a smoothie or with some milk as suggested instead of water. 3 stars

*Last few days to enter the “Organic Chocolate Indulgence” Giveaway!* 🙂

After a workout, there’s a few things I crave. Protein, to fuel my hard worked muscles, something sweet, to reward myself for a hard workout, and something healthy, to treat the body good and give it what it deserves. So, what better way to indulge after the gym than with an all natural Amazing Grass GREEN SuperFood Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bar? 🙂

Amazing Grass sent me some products to try, and one of them was the GREEN SuperFood Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bar. Combining two of my favorite things, chocolate and peanut butter, I certainly was excited for this.

This bar is all natural, gluten free, and according to the wrapper, made with organic peanuts, dates and green foods. According to the website, “We’ve taken our alkalizing Green SuperFood, with antioxidant rich fruits and vegetables and combined them in a bar that will satisfy your hunger and deliver nutrients to your body the way Mother Nature intended…unprocessed, organic and delicious.”

So I opened up the bar, and certainly was happy. It looked like a chocolate covered bar, and pretty thick too. I took a bite, and was actually quite surprised. The chocolate on top was smooth and sweet, I actually thought it was milk chocolate but the ingredients say it’s a “Dark Chocolate Coating”. The inside of the bar is, well, GREEN! They weren’t kidding about the “GREEN” part! I didn’t really taste too much peanut butter flavor, more like just a hint of peanut, but what I really tasted was a fruity flavor. It almost reminded me of chocolate covered raisins- but in bar form. It was tasty, though! Definitely a dense and chewy bar, it provided a sweet and slightly salty taste that certainly satisfied.

Overall, I give it 3 1/2 stars. It certainly was satisfying, and I liked the chocolatey coating on the outside. I really liked that it was made with organic ingredients, and contained the Green SuperFoods! However, I do wish it had more of a peanut butter taste, and slightly less fat per bar. Otherwise, I think it’s a great treat after the gym, or anytime!

Amazing Grass Kidz Super Food Wild Berry

Author: Healthnuttxo

Keeping up with my berry and fruity theme this week, I thought it would be appropriate to review a product sent to me by Amazing Grass, the Kidz Super Food Wild Berry .

One serving of this mix combines 32 fruits and vegetables that provides that antioxidant level of THREE servings of fruits & veggies. You simply mix it in water, juice, or a smoothie (it also comes in a chocolate flavor, that you can mix with milk!)

Seeing as the amazing nutrition punch this product packs, I decided to try it on a day I was feeling sluggish and just blah. I’m not one who likes to take medications , so I prefer more natural ways of helping or healing my body. I decided to just mix it with water, since I wasn’t home at the time and didn’t have access to juice (or a smoothie, for that matter). I put it in my water bottle and gave it a shake. It was green and dusty on top, and then the rest of the water was purple. I had a very curious glances my way like, “what on earth is she drinking?!?!” I’m not one to judge on color, so I took a sip. It was very, very mildly sweet- just a hint of berry flavor. It didn’t mix together perfectly, as it was still a bit piecy in the water.

I definitely reccommend using it in juice or a smoothie instead of just water, or maybe adding some stevia/sweetener if you want to use it in water. It wasn’t bad, though, taken for what it was. It’s an excellent way to boost your nutrition and fit in some powerful antioxidants. With water, I give it 3 1/2 stars based on taste, 5 for nutrition, for a total of 4 stars. It did make me feel SOO much better after- Really! My headache was gone, and I had more energy throughout the day. I think I might buy some in the future and try it in a smoothie or juice- if I do, I’ll let you know how it is!
