Chocolite Chocolate Crispy Caramel

Author: Healthnuttxo

I happen to be a fan of some of the products made by Chocolite. Some of the ones I tried have been sugar free and a tasty option for me compared to standard chocolate. Along with the others I was sent for free to try, I also received the Chocolate Crispy Caramel candies. There are 2 of them in a pack, and rather decently sized. They were bumpy in consistency and covered with chocolate.

I took a bite of one of the candies and noticed it had a slight crunch to it- perhaps this is where the “Crispy” part comes from in the name. It was sweet and very chewy from the caramel. I have a love/hate relationship with caramel. I like the flavor, but too much of it turns me off because it’s so chewy! However, these chocolates had just the right amount of caramel to give it flavor, without making me chew too much. The chocolate on the outside was smooth and tasted like milk chocolate. I noticed as I ate these they had somewhat of a salty flavor to them- I NEEDED a glass of water!

Overall, pretty good.  I liked that they were sugar free and had 6 grams of fiber per piece! 4 stars.

Are you a fan of caramel? If so, what’s your favorite food/treat involving caramel?

Chocolite Peanut Butter Protein Bar

Author: Healthnuttxo

I hope we all know my love with peanut butter by now, as it’s creamy, salty, savory, and just  delicious. And when paired with chocolate? What could be BETTER?! How about when it’s gluten free, sugar free AND has protein? Hmm… I like the sound of that!

The other day I was hungry, and in the mood for something both savory and sweet. So I grabbed this bar, and decided to give it a try. I opened it up and saw a somewhat thin bar, coated with chocolate. I took a bite and was very surprised. Peanut Butter? Where!?!

After I chewed it for a while, I did taste a slight bit of a peanut-ty aftertaste, but no where near what I had hoped and expected to taste. In my opinion, this was a chocolate covered caramel bar, with a little bit of peanut flavor. The chocolate was sweet, and the caramel was chewy but not too chewy-so pretty good. It was tasty, but a bit of a disappointment for me as I was really hoping for some delicious peanut butter!

Overall, I give this 3  stars. It’s a good bar, especially if you like caramel and chocolate, but I really wanted some more peanut butter flavor! Like those delicious peanut butter cup patties I had from Chocolite before! I do like that it was sugar free and gluten free, as well as providing a good amount of protein as well.

What’s your favorite Protein Bar? Please leave me a comment below! 🙂

Chocolite Chocolate Pecan Cluster

Author: Healthnuttxo

So far, I’d say I’m a fan of Chocolite Chocolates. Not only are they relatively low-calorie, but they are also quite tasty! My favorites have been the Caramel Cashew Protein Bar and the Peanut Butter Cup Patties.

Which are we reviewing today? Chocolite Chocolate Pecan Cluster! This package had 2 pieces in it, at 30 calories a piece. They also had six grams of fiber per piece, and 0 grams of sugar per piece.

I opened up the package and saw two chocolate covered clusters, roundish in shape with a somewhat bumpy texture. One of them I saw the caramel oozing out of the package, so I assume that one got a little smushed 😛 I liked that each cluster was a pretty decent size, maybe about a little bigger than a half-dollar in circumference, and quite thick in width as well.

I took a bite, and well, I couldn’t stop chewing! This seriously has SO much caramel! If you are a fan of caramel, I would highly reccommend these! I sort of wasn’t even expecting a ton of caramel, since it was called a “Chocolate Pecan Cluster”, although the picture does depict a good amount of caramel coming out of the cluster on the package. Other than the caramel, which actually was pretty good it was just rather chewy and had that stick-to-my-teeth feel, the chocolate part was very good. It had a smooth and sweet milk chocolate taste. I was a little disappointed on the pecan part, as although I do believe there were little bits and pieces of pecans throughout the cluster, it was lacking in pecan flavor- one of my favorite nuts!

Overall, I give this 3 stars. It was pretty good, and I liked that there were 0 grams of sugar per serving. However, I do like the flavor of caramel, but not so much the consistency. If it was a bit less chewy, perhaps I would have liked it more.

Chocolite Chocolate Chip Brownie Bites

Author: Healthnuttxo

Who likes brownies? Or, maybe the question should be, Who doesn’t like brownies?

🙂

Unfortunately, the majority of those sweet, lovely brownies usually have a lot of sugar and are high in fat. So, as an alternative, what about Chocolite Chocolate Chip Brownie Bites? I was sent a package of these to try from Chocolite/HealthSmartFoods, that had 3 bites in one package. The single serve package had FIVE grams of fiber, and four grams of sugar. Hmm.. Would this live up to a fresh outta-the-oven brownie?

While it wasn’t exactly like a fudgy, moist brownie, they were pretty good. Each bite was about the size in circumfrence of about a half-dollar, maybe a bit bigger. There was a sweet chocolate coating on the outside, with a slightly dry kind of crunchy inside. It was soft, chocolately, and had a slight vanilla taste. It kind of reminded me of the flavor of chocolate ice cream! I also think the name fits perfectly- Chocolate Chip Brownie- it also certainly reminded me of a cross between a chocolate chip cookie and a brownie.

Overall, 4 stars. I like that it was low in sugar, had 5 grams of fiber per 3 brownie bites, and was pretty tasty. On the downside, there are 3 grams of saturated fat for 3 brownie bites, and 5 grams of total fat. I do also wish that the inside was a bit less dry, but it was still good nonetheless.

Question- Which do you prefer, chocolate chip cookies or brownies? I would say I’m more of a chocolate chip cookie girl !

Chocolite Caramel Cashew Protein Bar

Author: Healthnuttxo

Health Smart Foods sent me some of the Chocolite products to try a little while ago, including the Caramel Cashew Protein Bar. I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I was when I first bit into this bar.

First off, the nutritional stats really rock. One bar has 10 grams of fiber, 115 calories, and only 1 gram of sugar.

But the taste is what won me over. The bar itself is dense and chewy, with a thick white coating on the outside, and visible bumps of cashews. The coating tastes like a mix of a buttery sweet white chocolate and a vanilla icing. Smooth and rich and delicious. It did not have an overpowering caramel flavor, which I liked, but was just enough to make it chewy and add a little sweetness. The cashew nuts are crunchy and tasty as well.

I literally was upset when this bar was over. So delicious, and I loved the thick white coating on the outside. It was VERY satisfying, for both my hunger pangs and my taste buds. Amazing!  5 stars !  😀

1 bar is 115 calories, 6 grams of fat, 18 grams of carbohydrates, 10 grams of fiber, 1 gram of sugar and 9 grams of protein.

Chocolite Chocolate Candies

Author: Healthnuttxo

Time for a CHOCOLATE review!

Chocolite made by Health Smart Foods

The company sent me a few of their products to try, and then have quite the selection! I decided to feature the Peanut Butter Cup Patty (how could I not try that one?!), the Chocolate Pecan Cluster, and the Chocolate Coconut Almond candies.

Peanut Butter Cup Patty– WOAH. HOW IS THIS ONLY 40 CALORIES EACH? This is so, good! Each patty has a smooth layer of milk chocolate on top, and on the inside is peanut buttery bliss. Seriously- it’s so yummy. Slightly salty and a little crunchy, the inside is the best part 4 1/2 stars

Chocolate Pecan Cluster- ooohhh, if you like caramel you will like these! A very strong caramel flavor, mixed with smooth and sweet milk chocolate. Very satisfying, gooey and soft. The caramel was VERY chewy and sticky, almost like taffy! However, I didn’t really taste any pecan flavor? Where was it, exactly? But other than that- a creamy treat for sure. I shared my pack with another, and she was begging for more! 3 1/2 stars

Chocolate Coconut Almond- Very strong coconut flavor, with little flakes of coconut throughout the candy. Sweet milk chocolate on the outside. Again- no real almond flavor, per se, but so good. I’m not even a big fan of coconut, and this one’s a hit with me! 4 1/2 stars
