Whhhoooooo likes waffles, pancakes and french toast? 😀
Better question-
Who doesn’t like waffles, pancakes or french toast?
Yea- not feeling many responses there.

I haven’t met a person who doesn’t love waffles, pancakes OR french toast. Perfect to wake up to in the morning, for an afternoon snack, or even breakfast for dinner with some scrambled eggs. Topped with maple syrup, yogurt, fresh fruit, whipped cream, ANYTHING, these 3 are a sweet indulgence.

However- they are time consuming to make. AND- there’s only so many EGGO waffles a girl can consume in her life (and there’s a lot of icky ingredients in those boxed frozen brands anyway).
But, I’ve found a solution (of COURSE I found a solution!).  De Wafelbakkers makes gourmet pancakes, waffles & french toast. Yes, they are frozen, but they are actually GOOD for you and GOOD tasting. They are all natural, and according to the website, the “taste is unique. Unlike regular, bland waffles, french toast, and pancakes that have no taste without syrup,
De Wafelbakkers products have a wonderful flavor all their own.”

They have a bunch of varieties too. For the pancakes, there are Fluffy Buttermilk Pancakes, A+ Cinnamon Whole Grain Spelt Pancakes, All Natural Whole Grain Pancakes, Blueberry Whole Grain Organic Pancakes, and Flaxseed Buckwheat Berry Pancakes.

For the waffles, there are A+ Cinnamon Whole Grain Spelt Waffles, Blueberry Whole Grain Organic Waffles, Flaxseed Whole Grain Apple Cinnamon Waffles, Oat Bran Spelt Waffles, and Holland Waffles

And lastly, there is Whole Grain Cinnamon French Toast.

Of the varieties, I was lucky enough to try….

the Blueberry Whole Grain Organic Pancakes,

Flaxseed Buckwheat Berry Pancakes,

Flaxseed Whole Grain Apple Cinnamon Waffles,

and the A+ Cinnamon Whole Grain Spelt Waffles.

The Blueberry and Buckwheat Berry pancakes were similar in size and in texture.  The serving size is 2 pancakes, which I THOUGHT would be too small, but it was actually very filling and substantiating. About the size of a CD, these pancakes were fluffy and moist coming out of the microwave. I also popped them in the toaster oven for a few seconds to add crisper edges, as if I actually made them from scratch. The blueberry ones were very tasty- strong hints of real blueberries, no fake fruit flavor here. I had them by themselves with whipped cream (ahh-heaven), and with maple syrup. They soaked up the maple syrup nicely, which gave an awesome, sweet blueberry/maple flavor. The buckwheat berry ones were equally as delicious. They had a brown sugar flavor to them, and had little berry pieces in them. There was a subtle raspberry flavor, which was nice, but I would  have preferred just a little more berry flavoring. However, it was refreshing to have a pancake that wasn’t so OVERLY sweet screaming “hey! I’m STRAWBERRY flavored!”

Onto the waffles..
Much different than your standard frozen waffle. Square in shape, you get 3 sets of waffles per serving. If you are used to hard and crispy waffles, these are quite different. VERY soft, even after toasting them in the toaster oven, they got crispy edges, but remained fluffy and soft on the inside. A unique experience for me, but definitely a good one! 🙂 The Apple Cinnamon Flaxseed Waffles were sooo good. They had a buttery taste to them, with a mixture of cinnamon and sugar, and then a slight granny smith apple after taste. They were sweet, super fluffy, and really delicious. I really enjoyed these, and it’s an easy way to get some flaxseed into my diet! 😉 They were a little high in fat, but it only had 1 gram saturated per serving, so most of it was healthy fats. Onto the winner of the review, the A+ Cinnamon Whole Grain Spelt Waffles. Honestly, the name says it all. A PLUS. A+ !!!! These were THE BEST WAFFLES I HAVE EVER EATEN IN MY LIFE. My stomach/ brain/taste buds were in love (so was my nose with the excellent smell surrounding my kitchen).  They are made with sweet potatoes, which was SO delectable with the cinnamon flavors. It provided a sweet, yet savory flavor, that was just perfect. I could eat these breakfast, lunch and dinner!!

Overall, I’m giving the pancakes 4 stars, and the waffles 5 stars. I REALLY enjoyed the waffles the most. They were unique, delicious, nutritious and absolutely divine. I love how they are made with whole wheat flours, and have other health benefits such as the incorporation of flaxseed, inulin, spelt flour, buckwheat flour and Fructan (Nutraflora) (see website for details). The only negatives I came up with was that there are refined sugars/corn syrup in a few of the flavors, some a tad high in fat, and some lack fiber and protein. However, a few modifications (add some fruit, add some yogurt or scrambled eggs, etc.) can make these a perfect, delicious, round-about meal. I haven’t tried the French Toast yet, but I will soon (and let you guys know how it is of course), and I’ll be hunting down the other waffle flavors as well!!

P.B. Loco Flavored Gourmet Peanut Butter

Author: healthnuttxo

Time to review something I eat almost every day . I love, love, love (love!) peanut butter.

P.B. Loco makes all natural, gourmet flavored peanut butters. There are there are no hydrogenated oils used (yay!) . They also have cafe locations where they concoct delicious-sounding sandwiches like Yummer Nutter, which is white chocolate peanut butter by P.B. Loco, Nutella Spread and and Banana. Yum! They make  Peanut Butter with Caramel Apple, with Chocolate-Chip Cookie Dough,  with CoCoBanana, with Dark Chocolate Duo, with Jungle Banana, with Raspberry White Chocolate, with Sumatra Cinnamon and Raisin, with Asian Curry Spice and then Original “Munchy Crunchy” and “Creamy Dreamy”.  Can we say yum? 🙂 🙂 🙂

P.B. Loco sent me 2 1.8 oz samples, or about 3 and a half  Tablespoons, (in these cute little jars that resembled make-up jars!) in flavors Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Jungle Banana.  I could hardly contain my excitement, I tried them both in one day. 😀

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough- wow. Such a different take on peanut butter. It smells sweet, my mom said it smelled like “a bag of Halloween candy”, but a good kind of sweet. It’s a little bit runnier than traditional peanut butter, and there are swirls of chocolate and itty bitty chocolate chips in it. It really tastes amazing. I didn’t need to spread it on anything, and I ate it as is.  It has a nice blend of salty-sweet, but it isn’t too sweet. Just right. 5 stars!! 🙂 🙂

here’s what it looked like (before  I ate it!!)

Jungle Banana- ooooohhhh this one’s good. It smells sweet too, and you can actually smell banana. This one is amazing. It’s as close as you can get to peanut butter and banana mixed together. It’s just the perfect blend of Peanut butter and banana, and it’s smooth and satisfying. 🙂  5 stars.

Overall. Need I say it? These are awesome. If you like peanut butter, you can buy these if you want, and I definetely reccommend them!
