Clif Crunch Chocolate Chip Granola Bar

Clif Bar & Company is one of my favorite companies when it comes to making delicious bars. I happen to enjoy the Peanut Butter and White Chocolate Macadamia Nut  flavors in the Clif Crunch, and the Chocolate Chip Energy Bar as well!

I opened up the package to find 2 bars, a little crumbly in consistency, but still held together for the most part. I took a bite and found a nice crispy/crunchy bar, with a very slight oily feel. There were scattered chocolate chips throughout, so I didn’t expect it to have a lot of chocolatey flavor. However- there really was a lot of chocolatey flavor! It was surprising, and in a good way. There also was a hint of vanilla flavor I detected as well.

Overall, these were delicious. I liked how they were not overly sweet, just right. It reminded me of a chocolate chip cookie, actually! I would certainly eat these again. 4 stars

Have you ever had any product from Clif Bar & Company? Which one is your favorite?

I was sent to try these bars for free. Regardless, my opinion is unaffected.

When it comes to snacks, I have to be in the mood for a granola bar. Most of the time I find I would prefer something crunchy or something I can sit and savor rather than a granola bar, which I view as a more on-the-go type of snack. However, the other day I wanted something substantial, and something tasty. I pulled out the New England Naturals Organic Maple Nut Chewy Granola Bar, in hopes it would taste as good as the last one I tried.

Some things to note, the wrapper states that this bar has “6 grams of fiber”, “11 grams of whole grains” and is “low fat” with “No trans fats”. It already was my type of granola bar. I opened up the wrapper and saw a decently sized ( 34 grams) bar, that was flexible and easy to bend. I was excited. This bar had maple in it, one of my favorite things.

I took a bite and it certainly had a chewy and dense texture, and sort of a disappointing maple flavor. It was sweet, just a tinge salty, and had sort of an awkward maple flavor. Not to say that I didn’t like it, but I didn’t love it either. I did appreciate the density of the bar as I chewed it, not too thick/dense, but just the right amount.

Overall, I do like that it was organic, had some whole grains and had 6 grams of fiber per bar. I can see it being a good snack to hold me over until my next meal, and perhaps a good lunch with some fruit and a yogurt. I do wish it had a better maple flavor, as that’s what I was hoping for in this bar. So, this one gets 3 stars.

What’s your snack of choice? Granola bar, or something else?

I was sent this granola bar to try for free from New England Naturals.

NoNuttin’ makes snacks that have a lot to offer. For example, according to the package of the Double Chocolate Chunk Granola Bar I was sent to try from NoNuttin’, this bar alone is “Gluten Free, Peanut Free, Tree Nut Free, Dairy Free, Egg Free”.

Well? Let’s give this a try!

The bar is on the smaller side, long and somewhat thin (about the width of my two fingers). It’s brown in color, with visible oats, and pices of chocoalte on the top part of the bar. It has a rather soft consistency, and fell apart easily as I lifted up the bar after I took it out of the wrapper. The chocolate on top tasted like a dark chocolate, and was more bitter than sweet. The texture of the bar is chewy, and the oats sort of have that rolled oats consistency, like how they are before I make homemade oatmeal. The taste is better than the texture. It has a sweet, chocolatey flavor, with a hint of vanilla.

I probably would have enjoyed this bar more if it wasn’t as chewy, and the chocolate pieces were sweeter. I’m giving it 3 stars. I DO like that it has a lot of things, such as being gluten free and dairy free, and that there is only 6 grams of sugar per bar.

Nature's Path Peanut Choco' Granola Bar

Author: healthnuttxo

What’s the first thing Lisa grabs to eat on her birthday?
Cake? no… Cookies? no… Pizza? no…

Obviously a combination of her two favorite things. CHOCOLATE AND PEANUT BUTTER! And what better way to satisfy my birthday craving then with a chocolate + peanut butter chewy granola bar! Ya know- they say as you get older your taste buds change-I beg to differ. I’m one year older and I’m still craving massive amounts of peanut butter, and chocolate + peanut butter will always be a good combination. Enough said. 😀

Anywho- Nature’s Path had just the thing to hit my pb & chocolate craving. Their Peanut Choco’ Granola Bars are new, wheat free, organic, all natural and provide whole grains. I liked the other Nature’s Path bars I tried, so I knew this one would be good too.

First off, I dont know why it says “Peanut Choco’ ” rather than “Peanut Chocolate” or “Peanut Butter Chocolate”, but I’m just going to roll with it. Maybe they thought it sounded nice? Who knows-as long as it tastes good 8) . This bar was actually pretty “hard” for a chewy granola bar. It wasn’t as easily pulled apart as the pumpkin flaxseed variety was, and had more “structure” if you will. I liked that though- I think it was good that it had more of a bite to it, thus, more satisfaction in my eyes. It was also a decently sized bar, 35g, a LOT thicker than Quaker Chewy granola bars, and also a bit longer.

Onto the taste- which really, like I’ve said multiple times before, it’s hard to mess up Peanut butter & Chocolate combinations. And this one, does not fail, and is delicious. The exact words that popped into my head when I took a bite was Ohhh yeaaa. It has a strong peanut flavor, with real chunks of peanuts in the bar. It’s very sweet and salty at the same time- you need water when you eat this or a big glass of milk!! The peanut butter flavor is “sweet”, sort of like Peanut Butter Cap’n Crunch. There is also a thick coating of chocolate on top. So good.

Ohhh-bviously this is getting 5 stars. The only thing keeping me from eating 2 in one sitting is that it’s 150 calories for one bar, and only 2 grams of fiber. But- it was 150 calories of bliss, so I can “overthink” those facts ;). I wish Nature’s Path sent me more than 1 bar because I had the AWESOME idea to heat it up in the microwave-after I ate it… 🙁 (darnit!!!) I could probably think of another 5 ways to use this bar too. It’s that tasty.

1 bar is 150 calories, 6 grams of fat, 22 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of fiber, and 3 grams of protein.
