Calling all chocolate icecream fans– you are in for a special treat! 🙂

First off, please dont be discouraged by the words “Goat’s Milk”-it makes quite a fantastic icecream! As I was absolutely amazed by the Vanilla Snowflake, I decided to try the Deep Chocolate as well with a coupon provided by LaLoos

I opened up the small container and saw a dark brown, rich ice cream. I scooped some out, and even though it had sat in my freezer for a little while, it was soft as butter. In fact, it was so easy to scoop out with a spoon- I was impressed! I tasted a little bit- wow, this was good! It reminded me of what a dark chocolate icecream would taste like. Rich, sweet, just a teensy hint of that dark chocolate bitterness flavor. It was soft and smooth in texture, almost fluffy like soft serve. It also sort of reminded me of the texture of an ice cream, but the chocolate flavor of a chocolate ice. Delicious!

Overall, I think if you like dark chocolate you would certainly like this icecream! I’m giving it 4 stars, because it’s really quite good. In fact, I ate mine right out of the container- for taste testing purposes, of course ; ) It is a bit high in sugar, but I do like that it has 5 grams of protein per serving. Nice!!

1/2 cup is 160 calories, 6 grams of fat, 21 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of fiber, 17 grams of sugar and 5 grams of protein.

What’s your favorite flavor icecream? I’ll always be a fan of strawberry and cookie dough!

Alden’s Ice Cream Organic Strawberry

Author: Healthnuttxo

Growing up, I remember when I was little and my family would go out for icecream, I would very often get strawberry ice cream with peanut butter topping. An odd combination perhaps, but I loved it. I remember my favorite part of strawberry ice cream was the big chunks of frozen strawberries- delicious.

Well, I got a coupon to try a free ice cream from Alden’s Organic Ice Creams, and how could I pick any other flavor but strawberry? Would it be possible to re-live my childhood memories of strawberry icecream, with an organic ice cream?

Well, I took this container out of my freezer and immediately was pleased. It scooped out of the container relatively easy- which I was SO happy about. I HATE when I have to dig and dig at a carton of icecream because it’s so cold and hard, that it takes so much effort to get it out of the carton! It sort of makes me not want ice cream anymore! But- not the case here!

I slid the creamy ice cream in my mouth and thought now this is strawberry ice cream. Absolutely DELICIOUS. So pure tasting, the perfect amount of sweetness, and an awesome strawberry flavor. I just loved it. I even loved how I got an occasion strawberry seed which made this have a real, homemade feel. I also loved that I could taste the cream in this icecream. Just SO good!

Of course, ice cream isn’t exactly diet friendly, but if I’m going to eat ice cream, I want some real ice cream and this stuff is really good. This is getting 5 stars =)

What’s your favorite flavor of ice cream? If you’d like to answer, please leave me a comment below! =)

Okay, so the term “Goat’s Milk Ice Cream” may not sound appealing. But please, hear me out 🙂

I was a little skeptical at first myself, but I decided, why not? Laloo’s sent me some coupons to try some free goat’s milk icecream, so I picked up a container of the Vanilla Snowflake. This icecream is all natural, and according to the container is also lactose friendly!

I opened up the container, and it was a pale yellow in color, sort of reminded me of the color of custard. When I took a scoop with my spoon I just knew this was going to be good. As I dug my spoon in, the ice cream was easily removable- it was super soft and velvetty in texture. I took a bite, and was amazed at this flavor. Where have you been all my life!  I thought. This stuff was SERIOUSLY good!

It was super creamy and rich, and had that melt-in-my-mouth consistency. Just absolutely perfect in my opinion. I’m not even normally a fan of vanilla- I usually opt for strawberry ice cream/frozen yogurt, or chocolate, or cookie dough! I normally find vanilla rather bland, but that is SO not the case here! It was perfectly sweet and had a lovely vanilla flavor. I think Laloo’s named this ice cream perfectly with “Vanilla Snowflake”.

This product clearly gets 5 stars– it does contain sugar, 14 grams per 1/2 cup, but it truly is a treat. I really like that it has minimal ingredients, provides such awesome flavor, and has 5 grams of protein per 1/2 cup serving. I would be perfectly happy eating all 4 servings in one sitting if it wasn’t for the 14 grams of sugar and 3 grams of saturated fat per serving. So, I guess I’ll have to save it for a treat (or just help myself to a spoonful every day and make it last longer! : )  )

1 serving, 1/2 cup, is 140 calories, 6 grams of fat, 18 carbohydrates, 0 grams of fiber, 14 grams of sugar, and 5 grams of protein.

Measure Up Bowl

Author: Healthnuttxo

Who says my reviews are only limited to food? Here’s my first HEALTHY PRODUCT review- you can’t eat it, but it will make eating fun!

Measure Up Bowls are literally (as the website states), “Portion Control in a Bowl”. They provide pre-measured portions in each porcelain bowl (which is conveinently dishwasher & microwave safe- WOO! No hand washing!) with visible lines. The Classic Bowl is intended for every day eats, like cereal and soups, and has measurement lines from 1/2 cup to 2 cups. The smaller bowl is intended for treats, like chips, ice cream and granola, and has measurements from 1/4 cup to 3/4 cup. You simply pour what you want in the bowls until the line is reached, and enjoy. Super easy!

Right off the bat, these get 5 stars for conveinence. Who likes taking time to measure? I like to pour, eat and repeat! But, how accurate are these bowls?

Well, here’s where the detective side of me kicks in. I decided to test the accuracy.

I measured 1 cup of mysterious orange liquid (haha, kidding! it was this Tropicana Light orangeade drink my family drinks a lot).

1 cup exactly- (plus a cute chia pet in the background!)

Then, I poured it into the bowl. The verdict- one cup exactly! Woo! 🙂

Overall, these are pretty cool! I think these are perfect for the “lazy dieter” (the people who can’t be bothered to measure!), or anyone who wants to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and get an eye of what a true portion is. I give them 4 stars overall. The company sent me these two bowls directly, but you can also buy them at Target, Delight or at MeasureUpBowl’s website. (Don’t forget you can also join their facebook group for info on menus & upcoming events!)
