Vitalicious Raisin Bran VitaTop

Who likes muffins? Or rather, who likes the tops of muffins (aka the best part in my opinion!)

Well, today’s review is the Raisin Bran VitaTop from Vitalicious. I  happen to like a few of the Vitalicious products that I already reviewed, including one of my favorites the Cran Bran VitaTop. What’s also cool about these VitaTops? They are a good source of fiber, and are only 100 calories!

So I opened up my Raisin Bran VitaTop( which was in the freezer and then I defrosted it) and looked at it. It seemed as if there weren’t a lot of raisins, maybe about 5 or 6, and it had a brown color and a somewhat bumpy texture. I took a bite and was surprised in 2 ways.

1- The first bite of my VitaTop was dry. I don’t know if it was because it was in the freezer, and maybe just that part of the muffin lost some moisture, but it was dryyyyy.

2- There were actually more raisins then I thought, scattered throughout the VitaTop and not just on top, and they were actually quite good, and quite sweet.

So, I gave it a few more bites. Not as dry as the first bite, so perhaps just that part of the VitaTop was dry, and the rest wasn’t as much. It sort of had the same flavor as the Cran Bran VitaTop, which was a toasted flavor and a bumpy texture. The raisins added a nice touch with some sweetness, and overall the VitaTop was kind of chewy.

Overall, 3 1/2 stars. Not my favorite VitaTop, but still pretty good. I love that it has 5 grams of fiber and 100 calories as well!

*I was sent this vita top to try for free from Vitalicious*

Simply Scrumptous had sent me some samples from their line of Fit & Flavorful Fat Free products. I have reviewed some of their other products they sent me already, but 2 of my favorites that I was sent are the Fat Free Chocolate Covered Donut and Fat Free Mom’s Apple Pie Muffin.

Fat Free Chocolate Covered Donut- I’ll admit, I was skeptical at first. I didn’t expect a fat free product to be as moist and delicious as this was. A good sized donut, it had a fluffy base, with a nice vanilla flavor. It was very sweet and absolutely delicious.  The chocolate icing was the best part- chocolately, smooth and actually a decent amount. De-LISH! 😀 4 1/2 stars

Fat Free Mom’s Apple Pie Muffin- WOW! I really liked this! Although it was a tad bit small, it was very sweet,  moist and really did remind me of “Mom’s Apple Pie”! I especially loved the nice cinnamon flavor, and the chunks of apple that were in the muffin. It was sticky, sweet and delicious! 4 1/2 stars

Of the products I’ve tried, I seem to really enjoy Simply Scrumptous’ Fit & Flavorful Fat Free line of products. And, these two are just amazing! 🙂

Ah, two of my favorite things, finally combined. Penny’s Low Fat Desserts, and Banana muffins. I’ve had some of Penny’s lovely desserts before- like her delicious muffin tops, and her chocolate truffle and cinnamon toffee cookies. So how on EARTH could I turn Penny down when she offered me to try her new Banana Bran muffin? (Obviously I couldn’t- then you wouldn’t be reading a review! 😉 )

Penny sent me a few of her new, all natural, no sugar added Banana Bran Muffins. Each muffin is only 100 calories and is sweetened naturally with rebiana, or stevia. They are a pretty decent size, 3 ounces, not as big as those super-muffins you get at the deli, but a good sized muffin. I popped it in the microwave for 10 seconds or so since I put them in my fridge( and I reccommend you heat it up for a few seconds when you try it!!), and sat down to review. The smell was awesome-I just knew I was going to like these. I. LOVE. BANANA! 😀

I took a bite, and was actually quite pleased. It’s “fudgy” in texture-soft, and fluffy. It’s actually sweeter than I imagined it to be, but still good. The banana flavor was good too- no fake banana flavor, but a real ” there are actual bananas, not just banana extracts in this muffin” flavor.  It also had a buttery flavor as well. In other words, this muffin was GOOD! I liked that you could see bits of banana actually thoughout the muffin. Yum!

One tip I have- spread peanut butter on this muffin! (taking into consideration you are not allergic to peanut butter. Please, do not do that then!!) Oh my, it was SO amazing with a smear of all natural peanut butter. I’m just mad that I didn’t think of spreading peanut butter on it until I was halfway done with the muffin (woops! ).

Overall, this muffin gets 4 1/2 stars. Good job, yet again, Penny! This muffin also has only three grams of sugar and six grams of fiber. Can’t be beat in my books 😉
