Nature’s Path is one of my favorite brands when it comes to organic food. I have yet to this day had a product from this brand that I haven’t liked. To add to my list of favorites, is the Optimum Blueberry Cinnamon Cereal that I was sent to try from Nature’s Path.

So what’s so special about this cereal? Well there’s a few things I like.

One- a serving size is ONE CUP! WOO HOO!
Two- There’s only 9 grams of sugar in 1 cup of cereal!
Three- there’s 7 grams of fiber and 9 grams of protein
Four- it’s ORGANIC!

Okay, so all that’s great, right? But, how does it taste?

Yummmmayyy!

One of the things I love is cinnamon, and this cereal has a great cinnamon flavor. Fresh, lightly sweetened, real cinnamon. There wasn’t much of a blueberry flavor, but there was tiny blueberries scattered throughout the cereal that tasted good. There were crunchy and HARD noodle/twig shaped pieces, and flakes. What I really liked was that the crunch held up in my almond milk and sliced banana, and it had a good amount of sweetness. 4 1/2 stars

1 cup is 200 calories, 3 grams of fat, 38 grams of carbohydrates, 7 grams of fiber, 9 grams of sugar and 9 grams of protein.

Nature’s Path is one of my favorite brands. They make a bunch of yummy cereals, bars, and too addictive toaster pastries. All organic, all healthy, and all delicious. As part of the Optimum line of cereals, which includes Blueberry & Cinnamon, Banana & Almond, Cranberry & Ginger and Slim, i saw the Strawberry & Yogurt variety and decided to give it a shot. It looked like a healthier, more sustaining version of Special K. I also liked the fact that there were yogurt clusters in it, i looove when cereals add those in 🙂

So I gave it a shot. This particular cereal has psyllium for heart health and regularity as well, and is also a good source of Omega-3’s. It has flax flakes, wheat puffs and the psyllium twigs, and then the yogurt clusters and little bits of freeze-dried strawberries. It was a nice combination of chewy, crunchy and fruity. It was lightly sweet, and had a satisfying crunch. The puffs were nice and airy, as they should be. I really really liked (as expected) the yogurt covered rice crisps. They were creamy and strawberry tasting, and had a little crunch to them. I actually sat with the box of cereal open and picked out the little yogurt crisps i liked them so much! (Not a good idea because now the next time i eat this cereal, all the yogurt pieces will be gone! grr!! ) I also liked the strawberries, which added a surprise zing of tartness/sweetness like in Special K cereal.

Overall, i give it 4 stars. This cereal paired well with my Stonyfield Farm Pomegranate Berry Yogurt, but it also was good with some lightly sweetened almond milk, by itself, with greek yogurt and with skim milk ( I like to eat my products a lot before a review-ya know know it is 🙂  ) It has a lot of fiber, so paired with my yogurt, i was full/satisfied all morning.
