Something new to try! I got a free box of Nimble bars by Balance bar. I was excited, especially when I heard that they had a PEANUT BUTTER flavor. Like music to my ears…

I also love that the bars have calcium, fiber, protein and are sweetened with truvia! More nutritional music to my  ears (wait…what??)

Plus, something new, there is lutein, beta-carotene and antioxidants c and e which are good for the skin (“when consumed daily for 2 weeks” as the box says).

And…. only 120 calories each! Nice. However, to throw a con in there, they are a bit on the tiny side :/

However, let the review of the flavors commence. The bar itself was very soft, and chewy, and also quite dense. The flavor was ok, not super peanut buttery, but I can tell its “peanut butter flavored”. It was sweet but not too sweet, but NOT sugary tasting. It also had that salty flavor, and a little bit of an aftertaste.

I noticed that both bars had tiny little orange dots in them. If you look closely at the pic, you can see it!

This one gets 3.5 stars

Next up, the Yogurt Orange Swirl-

I noticed that it was sweeter than the peanut butter flavor, but also soft and chewy. It had  a rather good orange flavor, and actually tasted kind of like a creamsicle! Mmm : )

This one also had a tad bit of saltiness to it, but I enjoyed it as a whole. This one also gets 3.5 stars

Overall, pretty good. Have water nearby as they made me crave a cup of it! They are kinda tiny which is something to note, but I like the nutritional facts, the ingredients, and the flavor is quite good. AND only 4 grams of sugar! Woo! Two thumbs up!

Another nut butter to add to my addiction and to subtract money out of my wallet (*sigh*…that wallet never had a chance against any nut butters). Insert, Peanut Butter & Co Mighty Maple Peanut Butter. One of the tastiest I have tried from Peanut Butter & Co., this one is also gluten free and vegan

SIDENOTE: How cute is that monkey?! With a barbell!

This was a thick peanut butter- not much stirring required, hardly any actually. Look here, didn’t even move as I turned my fork to the side. (WHHHHAAAAAT you don’t eat nut butter out of the jar with a fork, too?)

The peanut butter has a mild sweetness, but I can definitely taste both the maple and the peanut butter. It has a roasted peanut taste, and then a hint of maple flavor. Not too salty or too sweet, but just right. I ate this directly from the jar, like most of my nut butters, and I can’t get enough of it. This isn’t my first jar, and it will not be my last.

One thing different from other peanut butters is I can “taste” and detect the granules- like a very mild grittiness to the peanut butter. Not like sand, or like anything that would ruin the peanut butter, but it is not 100% smooth.

Overall, delicious and addictive. A made a significant dent in my jar the first night. I’m too ashamed to show you the picture and I also don’t want to think about possibly eating 3-4 servings in one sitting, so I’m going to pretend it never happened. (*What peanut butter??*) I get remarks all the time about how fast I can finish a jar of peanut butter, and quite frankly, it doesn’t bother me a bit. Heart healthy fats, protein, and hey, I can think of worse things to inhale on a 2-3 day basis (sad, yet true. Shelf life of a jar of peanut butter in my house is 3 days tops).

One thing, is these are a bit pricy, I’ve seen them as much as 6+ dollars for a jar. So, from me, this one gets 4.5 stars =)

What’s your favorite flavor/variety from Peanut Butter & Co. if you have tried it? Mine is this one here.

Peanut butter + pretzels + chocolate? Need there be another reason to  buy these? I didn’t think so. I also didn’t care that my wallet currently has 5 singles in it and I spent a few of those on these Dips. Oh salty sweet snacks, why must you tempt me so?

These little Dips were two pretzels, with peanut butter in the middle, then dipped in yummy  chocolate. I had to restrain myself in the car ride home not to eat them. (Lies- I totally ate 3 of them on the car ride home but I have to make it sound like I at least have some self control).

So much self control I actually ripped the bag down the middle. Ooooooops.

Anyway, after scoping out the ingredients (pretty good), looking at the nutrition facts (ehh…), buying these and finally getting them home, I had more and set myself to review them. Overall, these Dips were pretty good! And sweet! There was a milk chocolate tasting chocolate on the outside, with crunchy and fresh tasting pretzels on the inside.

Hmm. Problem. Where’s the peanut butter? I thought. The first bite was misleading- hardly any peanut butter flavor. But the second bite I tasted some. I do wish there was more, since I’m in love with peanut butter and will never turn it down : )

These were pretty much the epitome of a salty sweet snack. Smooth chocolate, crunchy salty pretzels and then a bit of peanut butter flavor. All together, they reminded me of a Reeses peanut butter cup in flavor, but with pretzel flavor as well. (Actually a Reeses peanut butter cup with pretzels in it sounds amazing!)

Overall, a yummy snack. However, very caloric, and high in saturated fat. 4 sandwiches have 4 grams of saturated fat and 150 calories, and these are HARD not to eat more than 4 of. In fact, the bag was gone in a day (not from me!!) but I left them on the kitchen table and later discovered an empty bag (that’s what happens when you live with hungry guys in the house!). So, given that and the peanut butter issue (lack there-of issue), these get 4 stars.

YES! Halloween is almost here!

Time to hand out candy to kids dressed up in ah-dorable costumes, and get props as one of the best houses that hands out candy. We go all out. Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, Butterfingers, Snickers….you know the good stuff. And not the mini barely more than a bite size- the bigger pieces! Ever since I was little we always handed out “good” candy. And we give a LOT of candy per person. One might call this egg/shaving cream insurance.

Say what?

As in, we hand out yummy candy, so our house doesn’t get egged or  shaving cream all over it. It hasn’t failed us yet! Although I still think we should hand out an apple or two and promote some health.

Just kidding. I want all the apples for myself. HAHA.

Anyway- At Whole Foods the other day I spotted Dancing Deer Baking Co. Peanut Butter Cats and Chocolate Bats cookies. HOW CUTE!!! I thought. And despite the $6.99 price tag (my wallet is still mad at me for that), I bought them.

I took some out, and sure enough, such cute shapes! But…what was up with the “eyeballs”? Some cats/bats barely had any, and some were smeared off…

Ha. The cat one vaguely looks like it has a mustache
from the chocolate crumbs. No? Don’t see it? Alright, maybe I’m crazy…
;  )

I tried the peanut butter one first. Obviously. You know my obsession. It was crunchy but thick, and mildly sweet. But…it tasted like a shortbread cookie, with mild peanut butter flavor. Really. A friend of mine tried one and confirmed the very mild peanut butter flavor, which was rather disappointing to me. I felt like I had to smear some peanut butter on it to give it peanut butter flavor! It definitely made me crave a glass of milk, however, as it was a “dry” cookie.

Next up, the chocolate. This one I liked better than the peanut butter cookie. It was sweet but not too sweet, and almost had a dark chocolate brownie flavor to it. It was pretty yummy! I think it would go great with milk or…a smear of peanut butter. But what DOESN’T taste good with peanut butter, really? Obviously, the chocolate ones were better, as they were sweeter and more flavorful.

Hmm….

Perhaps I’m slightly biased. I dont like cats. Maybe if they made the cats chocolate and the bats peanut butter I would have liked the peanut butter cookies better? ….

Ok no I wouldn’t have, but I’m just saying ;)

Overall, 3 stars. These cookies were ok, but nothing special. And where does the 12 grams of sugar come from!? These really aren’t that sweet! But at 3 cookies per serving, not bad! Although the  7 dollar price tag really hurts. It really, really hurts =(

What candy do you hand out/like getting the most on Halloween? Reeses PB Cups for me!!!

Got some free cookies, courtesy of Fabe’s, and of COURSE I had to try the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies first =) Seeing as I love both peanut butter AND chocolate… well, I guess to be fair, there are a LOT of people who love peanut butter and chocolate… So, let’s just say I did the Fabe’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie for YOU guys first ;)

I dont know about you, but those gooey chocolate chips pretty much won me over  on the spot.

The flavor was pretty good. Chewy and soft, with a mild peanut butter flavor, and pieces of nuts scattered throughout. It was a very rich cookie, and sweet but certainly not overly sweet. In fact, the raging sweet tooth I have kind of wishes it was a bit sweeter. It kind of had the sweet and salty combination going on, especially when I bit into a chocolate chip. Which, by the way, receiving these cookies in the mail on a hot day was sort of like a gift. These tasted like they were fresh out of the oven. The chocolate chips were gooey, but definitely had a different taste than what I’m used to- being a milk chocolate chip. They kind of reminded me of the Enjoy Life Boom Choco Boom Non Dairy Rice Milk chocolate bar in terms of flavor. Had a chocolate-like taste, with a vanilla flavor as well.

The middle of the cookie had that “I-just-took-these-out-of-the-oven-ten-minutes-ago” appeal, and like it was at the point where you take out a cookie and your not quite sure if it’s done or not. Your afraid it could be raw, but you dont want to overcook it. Thats how these cookies were in consistency. I’m not saying they were raw, but they were like a few steps beyond it. In other words, just the way I like it :)

Overall, very good cookie. It is pretty calorie dense, and has 12 grams of fat and 19 grams of sugar, and it’s also VEGAN and has no refined sugar. In other words,  my kind of cookie. I’m not vegan, but I dont mind when products are, and I certainly like when products are sweetened with other things besides refined sugar. I think this cookie is worth a try.  4 stars

What’s your favorite vegan cookie or baked good?

Along with the delicious Cinna Raisin Swirl Peanut Butter I won a little while ago, my 2nd jar I won was the Bees Knees from Peanut Butter & Co.

One thing I noticed about this peanut butter was that it wasn’t vegan. I remember seeing a vegan label on some of the Peanut Butter & Co.’s peanut butter, which made me curious as to why this one wasn’t. After doing some research, I saw that honey wasn’t vegan! Who knew! (If anyone knows for sure, please correct me!)

Anyway-

Onto the peanut butter. In a word? It was….Delicious! Thick, smooth, and very peanut buttery. It had little granules in it,  along with a pleasant sweetness from the honey. I like that you can taste both the honey and the peanut butter. I had mine directly from the spoon (when does that not happen?), but I think it would be AWESOME on a peanut butter and banana sandwich! (kind of like the Elvis sandwich!!)

I even thought the label was cute- the monkey looks like a bee!

Overall, really tasty!  It was a tad high in sugar, but not too terrible. I would definitely buy this one in the future 4 1/2 stars

I won an awesome contest where I got 3 free jars of Peanut Butter & Co. Peanut Butter. Of the three I chose, I picked one of my favorites, White Chocolate Wonderful, and this one, Cinnamon Raisin Swirl.

I opened my jar, and saw no oil separation, so that was a plus. Another thing I noticed, was a lot of the raisins were on the bottom! Here’s a pic of the bottom of my jar, so you can see for yourself.

Even after eating  a serving or so, there still was very minimal raisins on top.

I wasn’t really complaining however,  because it’s not like I couldn’t easily stir it. AND, the peanut butter by itself, even without the raisins, was so delicious!

It was a smooth peanut butter, but if you “chew” the peanut butter, you can detect granules similar in consistency to sugar. The cinnamon flavor was certainly prominent, which I liked. You can taste both the sweetness and the cinnamon flavor, with the beautiful flavor of a rich peanut butter. The raisins were soft, chewy and sweet. It was really delicious. Honestly, all I needed was a spoon, and I was happy (;

Overall, 4 1/2 stars. Certainly delicious. I liked it both when I tried it with the raisins and without the raisins. I’ll just have a few extra “surprises” waiting for me at the bottom of my jar (:

What’s your favorite food involving raisins? I happen to be fond of chocolate covered raisins (;

And here’s a snapshot of the nutritional facts.

Red Mango Peanut Butter Frozen Yogurt

Author: Healthnuttxo

I don’t know if you remember my tweet about Peanut Butter Frozen Yogurt on my Twitter Page the other day, but I was SO excited! I had intentions of buying a different flavor, but when I saw PEANUT BUTTER available, I quickly changed my mind! (:

I got this peanut butter flavor with bananas and granola as a topping. After I ordered, I realized they had suggested to get Jelly as a topping, which I would probably do next time I go, as it sounds yummy! I ended up getting a small, and it cost $4.98, with the 2 toppings.

Again, love the presentation. The swirl on top is too cute!

I took a scoop of the peanut butter, and was actually surprised. I was expecting a very sweet or a very peanutty flavor, and it was actually more tart than I thought it would be. However, it was pretty good! It did have a very mild sweetness to it, and was smooth. I actually really thought it tasted like peanut butter cream cheese, because I could certainly taste the  peanut butter flavor and a dairy or yogurt-y flavor. Unique, but good!

As for the toppings, the bananas were fresh and not overly sweet, kind of like a perfectly yellow banana with no brown spots would provide. The granola was crunchy and sweet, with a few pumpkin seeds and a bunch of flaxseeds as well. A good accompaniment to the frozen yogurt!

Overall, pretty good! I do wish it was either a bit sweeter, or a bit more peanut buttery, but I would get it again. 4 stars

If you could make any flavor frozen yogurt, what would it be? Since my dream flavor is already made, I would pick  cookie dough next!! (:

In honor of National Peanut Butter & Jelly Day, I felt it was appropriate to celebrate in the form of peanut butter. This is one holiday I certainly do not mind spending! (Not that I really mind any holidays for that matter, but this one in particular is worth celebrating! =) )

So, I ordered the Fluffernutter sandwich, which came with carrot sticks and a bag of chips. Yes, I realize it’s National Peanut Butter & Jelly Day, but Fluff is equally as delicious, and in all fairness, it still was a peanut butter sandwich =)

Here’s a pic of what I got (minus the chips that I saved for later)

Can you honestly tell me that doesn't look delicious? Mmm.

Although it may not seem it, the sandwich is actually rather large. I got my Fluffernutter on wheat bread, which was soft and just perfect. The peanut butter went excellent with the fluff, I got that “stuck-on-the-roof-of-my-mouth” feeling from the peanut butter, and the soft marshmallow fluff brought some sweetness to compliment the peanut butter.

On the menu listed on the website it says “Remember this recipe? Peanut Butter on one side, and gobs of Marshmallow Fluff spread on the other. It’s heaven”. I could not agree more. There really was peanut butter and fluff oozing out of the sandwich, which I had no problem using my crust to wipe up and eat.

The only slight disappointment of the meal was the carrot sticks. Not that they weren’t tasty, because they did taste quite fresh and delicious, but there wasn’t enough! Only three!? I would have much preferred a heftier side of carrots to compliment my sandwich.

Regardless, 4 1/2 stars. One of the best Fluffernutter sandwiches I ever ate.

Did you/ are you celebrating National Peanut Butter & Jelly Day? Please let me know! =)

This peanut butter. Is. Beyond. Amazing. (Yes, so amazing I felt the urge to use periods between each word!)

According to the website , this spread is “More than just a sandwich spread, it is fantastic on fruit, spooned over ice cream, when used as an ingredient in baked goods, or simply eaten out of the jar! It contains no cholesterol, no trans fats, no hydrogenated oils, and no high-fructose corn syrup. It is also gluten-free, certified vegan, and certified kosher pareve by the Orthodox Union.”

Two words to describe it? Incredibly delicious. What I liked about it, is that it is a natural peanut butter, AND there was hardly ANY oil separation! Being the white chocolate lover that I am, I had a feeling I was going to like this peanut butter!

It was smooth, sweet and creamy, and had a light vanilla flavor to it. I didn’t need anything else but a spoon to enjoy it (as that’s how I like most of my nut butters!). It really tasted as if someone melted a chunk of white chocolate into a jar of peanut butter, and turned a savory spread into something dessertlike.

Overall, BLISS! 5 stars for sure. Now excuse me as I go finish the rest of the jar. ;)
