Well, I recieved a free coupon for Sabra Hummus in the mail, and I was finally going to get to try some of this special spread for myself!
I decided to go to the store the next day to pick a flavor, and I settled on the Roasted Garlic Flavor.
So I got home and opened up the container. A pungent smell of garlic certainly filled the room- and it should! When I looked at the hummus itself, there was a pile mound of chopped garlic in the middle, followed by bits of red peppers dispersed throughout the spread. It had a pale orange/tan color, and also had little pools of orange liquid, (presumably garlic oil?) on the surface as well.
I decided to take the plunge. I took a carrot and dipped it in- yumm! It was CERTAINLY garlic-y, and had a distinct taste for sure! It was creamy and smooth, the only chunks being the garlic pieces if you chose to eat them. Very flavorful, and the perfect blend of garlic, chick peas and salty after taste.
I enjoyed this hummus three ways so far- one with plain/salted soy chips, one with veggies like carrots, and one (my favorite way!) in egg salad on whole wheat bread. Since I loooove egg salad, it was a great way to add flavor to the sandwich and add an extra kick due to thegarlic.
Overall, I give this hummus 4 stars. It was tasty, provided healthy fats, a little fiber, and is a much better replacement for ranch dip for dressings or mayo for spreads. And, although 2 tbsp doesn’t seem like a lot for a serving, it’s the perfect ratio if you are having a little baggie of baby carrots (of course, more veggies= more hummus!! 🙂 ). It really is delicious, and I plan on trying it with pretzels soon, too.
1 serving (2 Tbsp) is 70 calories, 6 grams of fat, 3 grams of carbohydrates, 1 gram of fiber and 1 gram of protein.
Cooked Chick Peas (chick peas (garbanzos) water), Tahini (ground sesame), Soy Bean and/or Canola Oil, Garlic, Salt, Citric Acid, Red Bell Pepper, Seasoning and Spices, Natural Flavors, Potassium Sorbate and Sodium Benzoate added to maintain freshness.

Sabra Roasted Red Peppers is so delish!!
Sabra hummus is hands down the best taste wise, though there’s a lot of awesome brands out there!! The only flavor I haven’t liked is the caramelized onion…I really want to try the fig and cranberry too though!!
Sabra Roasted Red Peppers is so delish!!
Sabra is good, but this whole flavor thing is very unauthentic..hummus doesn’t come in various “flavors”, it’s just toppings (and definitely not cranberry/fig :P)
