Have you ever heard of Fonio? It is an Ancient Super Grain grown in West Africa. The company states “bold Taste. Bold Texture. Great alternative to Oats!”
The consistency was not what I expected, definitely similar to cream of rice cereal but thicker. The portion for the amount the instructions require is very small and you will definitely need additional food if you are planning on having this for a meal. However, It is very calorie dense so may be a good pre workout type of snack since the fiber and protein content is not excessively high
Maple Bliss Burst
-maple flavor is pleasant , nice amount of sweetness
-I detect some type of aftertaste that I am not a fan of, it’s hard to explain but I am thinking its the flavor of the grain since the ingredients are relatively simple
Spiced Kissed Apple
-this one has little apple pieces in It which are soft and add a light apple flavor
-the flavor overall is ok – there is a cinnamon type apple flavor but It is relatively muted
-there is also somewhat of an aftertaste (which I don’t find all that pleasant) with these , and I am attributing It to the grain.
Overall, I really wanted to like these but I was not a fan. The texture is very pasty and portion is small. I do appreciate the minimal added ingredients and whole grains, as well as It being non GMO.
