Stone & Spear Tallow

TALLOW! What is It?
Essentially…It is rendered beef fat.
But don’t knock It, until you try It!
I was first quite weirded out but tallow until I tried some products and It was wonderful! I particularly enjoy It for my legs and feet as It is usually quite rich and creamy (and no, does not smell like ground beef LOL)

Anyway, Stone & Spear sent me some of their products to try. I love their website. It gives me Sedona, Arizona vibes. I used to live in Sedona and nothing beats the beauty of those red rocks.

Anyway let’s get started!

Moisturizing Body Butter in Citrus Vanilla

Look how FLUFFY!!!

This is GREAT! I used It mostly on legs, feet, abdomen. It smells like a creamsicle. For some reason citrus vanilla I thought It was going to be lime scented but It was more orange. It applies nicely and left my skin feeling very hydrated. With any tallow product, It can feel greasy at first but easily absorbs into the skin. Happy to report no issues with my (very) sensitive skin.

Natural Lip Balm

So I really like this. Kept my lips moisturized without feeling dry or flaky (and not greasy). It’s made of tallow, beeswax, and cacao butter. It does not have much of a scent and there is no coloring as well. I have had issues with lip balm in the past which I would use and then end up with flaky lips for which a dermatologist told me I was likely allergic to the active ingredients (go figure). This one, I had no issues with and actually lasted a few hours prior to needing a new application.

Anti Aging Face Mask

Well…..
Ok so this one was a fail. A beautiful color for sure but NOT IDEAL for a face mask.

Upon initial inspection It has a very nice mousse like consistency. However, when applied, It turns into this greasy clay like consistency. It has a blend of a tallow and lavender scent (tallow DOES have a smell if you have used It without additives).
NOW – It had a nice exfoliating aspect to It but was almost impossible to remove. If you plan on using this you need a shower handy for all the times you will need to rinse your face…which then from all of that, the skin feels dry.

the Mask is purple as you can see above, and while It is a lovely color, It really was not a good choice for skin. I do have pale skin however this mask stained my skin purple and even after scrubbing, there was residual purple which made It look almost bruised.

So…
YAY for the lip balm and body cream, nay for the face mask.

Overall, I would still be interested in trying more products by this company and like that It had very honest, natural ingredients!

4 1/2 and 1 star, respectively.

DISCLAIMER: I received these products to try for free. As always, this is an unbiased review.
