So being that I am a new mom, I have bought a LOT of baby products, and now I’m here to tell you what’s good and what is a waste of money( and trust me, as a new parent, you don’t need to be wasting money!)
Todays review is of Dr. Brown’s Insta-Feed Baby Bottle Warmer and Sterilizer for Baby Bottles and Baby Food Jars. I got mine off baby list and believe I paid about $20-30 but I found It cheaper on Amazon (good ol’ Amazon!)
Here It is! The font is already faded and we had this for maybe 2 months max.
It’s pretty easy to use- add the allotted amount of DISTILLED WATER (It comes with a guide for how much milk/formula you need to warm) , add the bottle and hit the button.
PLEASE use distilled water. We live in Arizona and this water is HARD and after a few weeks of use, there was this brown stuff all in the heating component. At first, I blamed my husband for spilling milk, and he blamed me for spilling milk, and turns out neither of us were spilling milk. It was the darn minerals in our water! We cleaned It with vinegar and It works just fine but take It as a warning! I think the machine would break eventually if you used hard water (ours was filtered too).
Next you add the bottle you need. We have both tall and small Dr Browns bottles.
For the large ones (taller bottles) It comes with a ring to place around the bottle to avoid steam from shooting up and for more even heating
For smaller bottles, you can use the basket as well as a cap It comes with.
Overall, I really like this product. Please don’t be me- using warm water in a sauce pan and swirling around formula/breast milk to warm It up at 3 am while my infant is crying at me because he is hungry. This warms up the milk pretty evenly and unless you put too much water, I find It works great for warm milk and not hot (but always test It before giving to your baby!).
I love the basket to avoid scalding your fingers and It works quickly- a few minutes max, which you can spend consoling your baby rather than swirling the bottle around in a saucepan trying to warm up the milk! Sometimes the milk is not AS warm as I would like It to be (mostly the tall bottles) but overall It is affordable, sleek design and so far lasting pretty good so I give It 4 1/2 stars overall.
